Should 401k investment distributions be similar to mutual funds?
Q: I have read mutual funds for dummies, and the author, Eric Tyson, said that the diversification of mutual funds, bonds should be 25%, 50% stocks and 25% of internal actions. So my question is, should be similar in their 401k investment structure? Why or why not?
A: I can not really say if you try to buy your own stocks, or if you need 25% of your 401K in mutual funds that specialize in bonds, etc., but I guess it is what you want say.
If you have a 401k and mutual fund, you essentially look like any one portfolio and allocate accordingly. Therefore, your allocation should be spread over the entire portfolio of mutual funds and 401k.
